2023.10.3. Friday.
US Army Soldiers Chorus with Seattle Veterans Choir sang in two concerts today (4pm and 7:30) in the Opera Center.
I don't have a ticket, went anyway, in case there were seats left. Yes, there were.
The Soldier Chorus has 10 women and 10 guys, mostly young, 1 conductor, 1 on piano.
Crisp uniform. The decoration on their clothes reflect their rank and seniority.
All very good singers. I chatted with 2 girls afterwards, and they said they sang opera before. No wonder!
Good voice arrangement. I really enjoyed their performance.
Veteran Choir is not the best. They are new, started in 2019. The lady sitting couldn't find her last song.
They wore black top, but no uniform.
Their conductor and pianist are both Seattle Opera's employees.
Last, both sang a new work, The Path, commissioned for the U.S. Army Soldiers’ Chorus with the Veterans Choir.
Written by composer Damien Geter and lyricist Jerre Dye and was inspired by interviews with members of the Path with Art Veterans Cohort.
A longer song. Not bad.
Audience. Quite a lot of veterans, especially the air force and army.
The auditorium was far from full.
