2006.6.4. Central California Day 5 of 7. Yosemite valley is one special place. Be sure to stop at the Valley View parking lot (very east end of the drive in the valley, right in front of Merced River with a good view of the Bridal Veil falls. The Tunnel View east of the tunnel provides a grand view of the valley.

Mariposa Grove is home to quite some sequoia trees. The largest one is called Grizzly. The California Tunnel tree is fun, several people can walk through it.

The 1.1 mile hike up the Sentinel Dome is a must. Snow is still on the way. Magnificent 360 degree view from the top. From the same parking, another 1.1 mile trail leads to Taft Point, which at the moment is completely impassable.

If you don't hike, drive to the end of the road to Glacier Point to watch the sunset. A ranger comes to Glacier Point to give a sunset talk. That was fun, if you don't mind the crowd.
