2011.6.3. Helen Thayer
Thayer talked about her 1994-5 expedition with her husband Bill and an Inuit dog Charlie in the Canadian northern tundra in search of wolves. Very dynamic, a good story teller. At age 73, she appears vigorous and healthy. Quite inspiring. Bill, age 84, is soft spoken if not speaking at all. He told me that they walk (~7 miles) 2 hours twice each week, despite of the busy schedule. Last time I saw her was in the Seattle public library talking about her "walking the Gobi" with Bill and two camels in 2001. She compiles her experiences and lectures K12 students using her educational website.
