Thayer talked about her 1994-5 expedition with her husband Bill and an Inuit dog Charlie in the Canadian northern tundra in search of wolves. Very dynamic, a good story teller.
At age 73, she appears vigorous and healthy. Quite inspiring. Bill, age 84, is soft spoken if not speaking at all. He told me that they walk (~7 miles) 2 hours twice each week, despite of the busy schedule. Last time I saw her was in the Seattle public library talking about her "walking the Gobi" with Bill and two camels in 2001.
