Since last weekend, seeing the smoke on the drive back, I started watching the smoke condition from WA Smoke Blog a few times a day. airnow.gov is also a good website.
The air quality in Seattle deterioated in mid-week from yellow to red. Now it's bordering hazardous. The air in Portland was already red in the beginning of the week. So this weekend's hike is canceled to minimize breathing this air. It's sad to know that my many favorite hiking destinations (especially Jefferson Park) are being torched.Rain is in forecast tomorrow (Monday 9/14) evening. Hopefully, the smoke will clear in a few days.
