Sunday. 5/4. Despite the rainy forecast, 10 of us still hiked Dog Mountain. 1:20 hour to reach flowering meadow. Still a week or two to full bloom. Saw quite a few chocolate lily, shooting star, which will be dead in two weeks time. Almost no lupine blooming yet. Still quite a sight, with clouds moving in and out. Very windy at the flowering slope. Didn't linger long. The rain started and then poured on the way down, but stopped when we got back to the car.7.5 miles loop. 2800' elevation gain. Highway 14, milepost 53, just east of Stevenson.
