2007.3.27. Camelot at the 5th Ave Theater. Swift changes of stages, dances and songs. Plot starts at the meeting of Arther and Guenevere, and ends in a battle which the knights at the Round Table were fighting with each other.

2007.3.15. Seattle Symphony:
Asher Fisch, conductor/piano
Chee-Yun, violin
Alisa Weilerstein, cello
  • Beethoven: Egmont Overture
  • Beethoven: Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano, "Triple"
  • William Thomas McKinley: Concerto for Orchestra No. 2
  • Stravinsky: Symphony in three movements

  • The two girls are very young, talented and cooperative. However, Chee-Yun's dress is ugly, and Alisa overdid her expression sometimes. The modern piece by McKinley is very jumpy. Stravinsky is full of discord as always, especially this piece is a rewrite of two abandoned projects. The 2nd movement is quite melodic.

2007.3.10-11. First attempt of open water dive next to Mukilteo ferry dock. I used size 10 wet suit, 24 lb weight. One dive each day, to 40 ft, for close to 20 minutes. Couldn't do the snorkel flushing. Had to adjust buoyancy quite often. Needs more practice. Any how, got my certificate. Saw some fish and a giant clam. Quite a few crabs, and lots of star fishes. Even a girl's statue down the bottom.

2007.3.9. Handel's Julius Caesar at Seattle Opera. Baroque. The lamenting song by Cornelia over Pompey's severed head, and the duet with her son are quite pretty. Others aren't impressive. (In reality, Cornelia was Caesar's first wife, and he married their only child Julia to Pompey.) Caesar is played by a mezzo soprano. So is Sextus, the son of Pompey. Caesar, Cleopatra, and Cornelia have great voice. Cleopatra's brother Tolomeo's voice is very weak in comparison. Simple stage, and simple costume. Lots of pyramids, even the Roman camp and Cleopatra's palace are pyramids. Nice lighting. The floor is so shining that it is reflective like water.
