2007.1.27. David Copperfield's magic show titled Imagine at Paramount Theater. A few disappearing acts, including a car. A couple of guessing games, using frisbee to randomly select the participating audience. Very self promotion, big ego, but still entertaining.

2007.1.19-21. Snow retreat at Mountain Home Lodge above Leavenworth. 4:15pm pick up on Friday. Walked about the ground before dinner. Start with wine and cheese. Very salty salad, but perfectly cooked beef tenderloin and mashed potato. Finished with a tall layered raspberry and cream sponge cake. I was so stuffed and had to walk around before settling back in the house.
Woke up to a bright sunshine. Fruits, juice, egg, bagel started the day. Cross country ski until about 2pm, barely made it back for sandwich, soup, and freshly baked cookies. After a break, walked up the northern hill trying to catch the sunset in vain. Soaked under a bright new moon and glittering snow to ease the bruises and blisters from the morning ski trip. Dinner started with Chinese dumplings, followed by salad, wild rice and overcooked salmon breaded in sesame seeds, ended with a beautiful chocolate and peanut butter cake. Retired contentedly.
No sun Sunday. After fruits, pancake and sausage, tubing down the front law. Was fun. Arrived at home a bit over 3pm.

2007.1.15. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. I-5 exit 114. About an hour drive. Cold, sunny. Lots of geese and ducks. Saw a bittern, a hawk, and couple of herons.

Went to Seattle Rep's performance of The Lady from Dubuque, a play about dying. Confusing plot, or rather questions than a plot. The play writer Edward Albee showed up in the Stage Voice at 6pm, talking to Seattle Rep's artistic director David Esbjornson.

2006.12.30. Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center. Guided walk at 1:30pm. Saw two eagling feeding at the gravel close to the river bank about milepost 100. About 60 eagles circling in the sky around 4pm a bit further east. Soon dissipated, but a great sight: pale moon and soaring eagles.
